Wednesday:  Go over station sheet / review for quiz tomorrow / Brainpop video on Newton's Laws.

Thursday:  Quiz over chp. 6.  Begin Chapter 8 Vocabulary

Monday:  Friction Notes and math word problems - Finished it together in class. 
Quiz over chp. 5-6 vocab, chp. 5 notes, and friction notes on Wednesday, 12/5.

Tuesday:  Finish word problems on friction notes, review for quiz, do friction lab with toy cars.

Wednesday:  Chp. 5 quiz, read about Newton's 3 Laws and explain them.  Draw a picture example of each one and explain it.

Thursday:  Go over Newton's 3 laws and do worksheet.

Weekly Rundown - 11/26 - 11/30

Monday:  Winter Maps Testing for Math.  I met with 3, 4, and 7th periods.  We went over chp. 21-23 test, worked on whistles on clay instruments, assigned vocabulary page for chp. 5-6 and back side.  Had kids make up ear sheet and circle sheet if they didn't turn it in.

Tuesday: Winter Maps Testing for Reading.  I met with 5, 6, and 7th periods.  We went over chp. 21-23 test, worked on whistles on clay instruments, assigned vocabulary page for chp. 5-6 and back side.  Had kids make up ear sheet and circle sheet if they didn't turn it in.

Wednesday: Winter Maps Testing for Language Arts.  I met with 3, 4, and 7th periods.  Finish up vocabulary and watch video on motion/speed and Bingo game on vocab words.

Thursday:  Movie clip (Car chase scene) - Do 5 notes on motion and speed.

Extra Credit Opportunity

If students wish to do extra credit, they may choose 1 additional option on the "pick 3" page. 

- If they choose to do a "Daily" option, they will get credit towards their daily work (if they do all of the requirements, it will be like a 100 is put into their Daily grade category.)

- If they choose to do a "Quiz" option, they will get credit towards their quiz work (if they do all of the requirements, it will be like a 100 is put into their Quiz grade category.)

- If they choose to do a "Project" option, they will get credit towards their test/project work (if they do all of the requirements, it will be like a 100 is put into their Test/project grade category.)

Monday:  Divide into row sections and each row is responsibile for reading and presenting with a poster that section's information.  They will present their poster tomorrow. (on Chapter 10)

Tuesday:  Finish working on poster project and present them.  Each student was to write 2 facts about each of the 4 posters presented.  This was counted as a completion grade.

Wednesday:  Begin working on Directed Reading Worksheets for Chapter 10.  This will be counted as a quiz grade.  Also, students should use it along with Chapter 10 notes to study for their test next Wednesday (10/3).

Thursday:  Continue working on Directed Reading Sheets.  We will grade them on Friday.  Students should have all or most of it done as I will not give them a lot of time in class tomorrow to work on them.  I told them they could take a book home at the end of the day if necessary.  If they take a book home, please make sure they return it the next day!

Summary of the week 8/27-8/31

Monday: Worked on density problems "State of Matter" sheet.  Also passed out SI Practice Problems sheet and went over it.  Due for a grade.  Make sure to show work and put name on it or no credit!

Tuesday: Floating Boat Lab.  This was a participation grade.

Wednesday: MAPS testing began, so I didn't see my 5th and 6th period classes.  All other period of classes worked on worksheets that were due.  (PROGRESS REPORTS WENT OUT - PLEASE SIGN YOUR CHILD'S PROGRESS REPORT AND RETURN TO SCHOOL ASAP!)

Thursday: MAPS testing during 5th and 6th periods.  All other periods worked on missing work or read in a science magazine.

Friday: MAPS testing (last day) during 5th and 6th periods.  All other periods make sure missing work is done and watched a Bill Nye Famous Inventions in Homes video.


Monday (9/3) is Labor Day.

Next Friday (9/7) is a test over chapter 2.

Physical Science Syllabus

This is the syllabus for this year.  On it,  you will find information about what we will be learning, what materials are needed for my class, classroom expectations, and also my grading policy for this year!  At the beginning of school, I sent this form home to be signed by both the student and their parent/guardian.

Welcome Back!

Welcome Back to School! 
I look forward to getting to know your child this year! I just wanted to let you know/remind you that there will be a test over Chp.1 notes and vocab and the ppt. that I went over in class on this Wednesday, Aug. 22.  I told the students about this last week.
Also, supper at Westside is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6pm.  It's a free meal and a great chance to meet your child's teachers!  Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!
